Stock Market Today: On June 10, the headline indices began on a positive note with the BSE Sensex opening 196 points or 0.24 per cent higher at 82,643.73 levels. The 50-share Nifty also opened at 25,196.05 levels up by 0.36 per cent or 92.85 points. Minutes after trading activity began, the Nifty 50 gained 0.38 per cent to trade at an early high at 25199.3 levels. On the other hand the 30-share Sensex gained 0.28 per cent to a high of 82680.79 level in early trade.
Soon after the market opened, key broader market indices such as the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 gained 0.30 per cent and 0.31 per cent each, respectively. The fear gauge or the India VIX declined as the index traded 0.22 per cent lower amid easing global trade tensions. Among the sectoral pack the Nifty IT and Nifty Metal emerged as top gainers, gaining up to 0.5 per cent. On the other hand the Nifty Bank declined 0.02 per cent around the same time.
Top Gainers & Losers On June 10
In early trade on June 10 as many as 36 constituents of the Nifty 50 advanced while 14 constituents declined. From the Nifty 50 pack, Grasim, Bharat Electronics Ltd and IndusInd Bank gained the most in early trade higher by up to 2.96 per cent. Shares of Eternal, ICICI Bank and Trent led the losers as the stocks traded lower by as much as 0.86 per cent in early trade.
Global Markets See Optimism In US-China Trade Talks
Trade talks between top US officials such as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and their Chinese counterparts continued in London on June 9. Following the commencement of the trade talks key Wall Street indices like the S&P 500 extended gains closing higher by 0.09 per cent to finish at 6,005.88. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite finished the session higher by 0.31 per cent at 19,591.24. However the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the session flat with a negative bias, closing lower by at 42,761.76.
On the other hand the Asian markets gained amid optimism regarding easing trade tensions between US and China. At the time of writing China’s Shanghai Composite index traded higher by 0.11 per cent at 3,403.41 levels. Other major Asian indices like Japan’s Nikkei 225, Hong Kong based Hang Seng index and South Korea’s Kospi traded higher by up to 1 per cent at the time of writing.
Commodity Prices on June 10
Prices of crude oil traded higher in the early hours of June 10. At the time of writing, WTI crude prices traded at $65.45, higher by 0.25 per cent, on the other hand Brent crude prices traded around $67.2, up by 0.23 per cent. The price of 24-carat purity gold was Rs 97,280 per 10 grams, the price of 10 grams of 22 carat gold rate was Rs 89,173 and the price of 18-carat gold price today was Rs 72,960.
