Share Market News: The benchmark indices extended gains for the third straight session on June 9. The BSE Sensex finished higher by 256.22 points, or 0.31 per cent, at 82,445.21 levels. The Nifty 50 closed at 25,103.20, up by 100.15 points or 0.4 per cent.

Jio Finance and Kotak Bank Lead Gainers

Shares of banks, non-banking financial sector companies and financial services providers gained in trade on June 9. Shares of Jio Financial Services, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finance and Trent Ltd ended the session higher by up to 3.89 per cent and emerged as top gainers. On the other hand, shares of Eternal Ltd, ICICI Bank, Titan, Mahindra & Mahindra and Adani Ports came out as top drags, declining as much as 1.86 per cent.

Nifty IT and Nifty Oil & Gas Gain the Most

The Nifty IT index and the Nifty Oil & Gas index gained the most among all major sectoral indices as they ended the session higher by up to 1.04 per cent. The broader market indices extended their gaining spree, with the Nifty SmallCap 100 and the Nifty MidCap 100 closing higher by 1.13 per cent and 1.57 per cent, respectively.

Global Markets on June 9

Wall Street indices ended the session mixed, with the Dow Jones and S&P 500 witnessing declines of as much as 0.16 per cent. On the other hand, the Nasdaq Composite finished the session higher by 0.14 per cent. At the time of writing, European indices such as the FTSE 100, CAC 40 and DAX Performance Index traded as low as 0.7 per cent. On the other hand, Asian markets traded with an upbeat sentiment amid easing trade tensions between China and the US. At the time of writing, Japan’s Nikkei 225 traded higher by 346.96 points, or 0.91 per cent. Other indices, such as the Hang Seng and the Shanghai Composite, gained up to 1.61 per cent around the same time.
