Sensex, Nifty Today: Indian markets extended gains for the second straight day as the headline indices ended in the green on May 15. The Nifty 50 index closed at 25,062.10 up by 395.2 points or 1.6 per cent on the other hand the 30-share Sensex also added 1200.18 points to close 1.48 per cent higher at 82,530.74.
Hero MotoCorp, JSW Steel and Tata Motors Lead Gainers
Shares of Hero MotoCorp, JSW Steel and Tata Motors gained the most among the Nifty 50 pack as they closed up to 6.17 per cent higher. Shares of IndusInd Bank bucked the trend and closed lower by 0.17 per cent on the NSE. On May 15 as many as 49 constituents of the Nifty 50 index ended in the green.

All Sectoral Indices End In Green
Amid a broad-based rally in the market, all the major sectoral indices closed in the green, with the Nifty Auto, Nifty Metal and Nifty Realty gaining as much as 1.92 per cent. The broader market indices extended gains for the fourth consecutive session in today’s trade as the Nifty MidCap 100 index and the Nifty SmallCap 100 index ended the session higher by 0.7 per cent. The India VIX index also closed 1.93 per cent lower amid easing trade tensions, indicating relatively lower volatility in upcoming sessions.

On May 14, key US indices like the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite ended higher by up to 0.72 per cent. At the same time, the Dow Jones Futures index closed lower by 0.36 per cent. European indices like the FTSE 100 traded in the green, up by 0.08 per cent at the time of writing. The Paris-based CAC 40, and the Frankfurt-based DAX Performance Index traded lower by as much as 0.18 per cent. At the time of writing key Asian indices such as the Hang Seng index, the Shanghai Composite and the Nikkei 225 traded lower by as much as 0.99 per cent.
