Government launches tools to check status and eligibility
The Centre has urged farmers to complete their e-KYC on the PM-KISAN portal before the release of the 22nd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme on March 13.
The next instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana or PM-KISAN will be credited to the accounts of farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) route. Approximately Rs. 18,640 crores will be credited to the accounts of around 9.32 crores of farmers registered on the PM-KISAN portal.
Farmers Asked To Verify Details
The government has urged farmers to check their details on the PM-KISAN portal before the release of the 22nd instalment so that the benefits are credited to their accounts on time.
Know Your Status Module
The government has also launched the "Know Your Status" module on the PM-KISAN portal. The module will allow farmers to check their details on the PM-KISAN portal.
The KYS module also allows farmers to view the status of payments, eligibility, Aadhar linking, land seeding, and e-KYC status. This would help farmers identify if there is a requirement for additional information.
A face authentication-based mobile application was also introduced to help farmers carry out the e-KYC process from the comfort of their homes. This feature has also eliminated the requirement for OTP and biometric devices.
Nodal officers are appointed at the state and village levels to help farmers with the verification process.
AI Chatbot Support For Farmers
The government has also launched an AI chatbot, referred to as Kisan-e-Mitra, to help farmers with information on the scheme. This chatbot is available in 11 regional languages and is available round the clock.
The chatbot has also helped lakhs of farmers with queries related to the scheme, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
Eligibility Criteria For PM-KISAN
The PM-KISAN scheme is a government scheme that provides income support to eligible farmer families who own cultivable land. As per the scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 per annum in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each.
The monetary benefits are directly deposited into the bank account of the farmers through DBT.
However, certain categories are also disqualified from receiving the scheme’s benefits. These categories include institutional landholders, income tax payers, and individuals holding constitutional posts. Professionals such as doctors, engineers, and lawyers who are practising are also disqualified.
A system of verification was employed to ensure that those who are not eligible for the scheme do not make false claims. The farmers who are no longer eligible for the scheme can voluntarily give up their benefits through this portal. The government has also introduced a system of reactivation for those farmers who may have given up their benefits by mistake.
Cumulative Disbursement Under The Scheme
With the announcement of the 22nd instalment under the scheme, the total amount that has been disbursed under the PM-KISAN scheme will exceed Rs 4.27 lakh crore.
Of the total beneficiaries who are to receive the forthcoming instalment under the scheme, more than 2.15 crore are women farmers.
