A government job appointment letter can bring the promise of a stable income and a secure career. But several documents claiming to offer jobs under the Ministry of Rural Development are being circulated on social media, raising concerns over their authenticity.
The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit has now flagged these documents. It said, “These letters are fake and have no association with the Ministry of Rural Development (@MoRD_GoI).”
As shown in the images shared with the post, the documents are formatted as appointment and confirmation letters, carrying details such as employee codes, reporting dates, duty timings, divisions, branches and postings. Some of them mention positions including Assistant Field Officer and Section Officer.
What Has PIB Fact Check Advised?
The PIB Fact Check unit has advised people to be cautious about such fraudulent documents being circulated in the name of the Government of India. It has also asked people not to forward such documents to others.
The advisory comes as the appointment letters being circulated carry details that can make them appear like official employment documents. These include employee codes, reporting dates, duty timings, divisions, branches and postings, along with references to employment terms and salary or gross emoluments.
How Can You Stay Safe From Fake Job Offers
Before acting on a government job offer received online, check the recruitment details on the concerned ministry or department’s official website. Look for the recruitment notification, application details and other information issued from official channels.
Be careful with unexpected appointment letters received through social media, messaging apps or email addresses that are not officially linked to the department. Check the sender’s details and compare the information in the letter with the recruitment notification available on the official government website.
If someone asks for money in exchange for confirming an appointment, processing a joining letter, completing verification or securing a government job, treat it as a major warning sign. Do not make a payment without independently verifying the request through an official government channel.
