The government has debunked a news article floating around in various circles which claims that the government will launch an initiative named PM Kardata Kalyan Yojana to reward honest taxpayers. The government has advised citizens to exercise caution and not fall for such rumours. It also took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), to clarify, that the article is fake and that no such scheme is under speculation.
What Did the Fake Scheme Say
The article made the scheme sound very appealing with provisions such as travel discounts, a Kar Mill (a point system), and free Internet data, among others, as a gesture of appreciation for tax compliance.
Government’s Rebuttal
The Press Bureau of India Fact Check officially denied the existence or ongoing formation of any such scheme and cautioned the citizens against it
It wrote in a post on X. “The article communicating the provisions by the Government of India such as kar mill, travel discount, free internet as a reward to honest taxpayers, under a new scheme, is fake. There is NO such scheme as PM Kardata Kalyan Yojana. The bureau also notifies that the news is completely false and misleading.”
Beware of False Notifications
This is not the first time that disinformation has been spread under fake schemes with official-sounding names. Scammers and clickbait websites frequently create phony tales about government perks in order to attract attention or trick readers into disclosing personal information. In light of this, citizens should check such allegations.
Government schemes provide various concessions. Any fake scheme disguised as genuine is likely a trap to lure unsuspecting users to divulge sensitive personal details.
As a rule of thumb, do not share your personal information, such as bank details, contact details, one time passwords. Also, beware of any fake news.
The government promotes tax compliance through various benefits and schemes, but any legitimate program is officially announced and well-documented on government websites and media.
There is no such scheme as the PM Kardata Kalyan Yojana in existence and claims related to it are false. Taxpayers should stay vigilant and refrain from sharing unverified news.
