Annual Financial Assistance For Farmers
Launched in February 2019, PM Kisan provides eligible landholding farmer families with Rs 6,000 annually. The amount is paid in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each through direct transfers to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
The scheme covers families whose cultivable land is registered in their names, subject to eligibility rules. Institutional landholders are excluded, along with farmer families whose members hold or have held specified constitutional posts, including ministerial positions, seats in Parliament or state legislatures, and certain local government posts.
Serving and retired government employees, with limited exceptions, are also ineligible. Other excluded groups include pensioners receiving Rs 10,000 or more per month, income tax payers and practising professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects registered with their respective professional bodies.
e-KYC And Aadhaar Linking Requirements
Farmers must complete electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification to receive the instalment. Their bank accounts must also be linked to Aadhaar.
The e-KYC process is available through the official PM Kisan portal using a one-time password, the PM Kisan mobile application with facial recognition, or the nearest Common Service Centre. Farmers facing problems with verification, Aadhaar linking or payment status can contact the PM Kisan helpline at 155261 or 011-24300606 for assistance.
