Users of brokerage platforms faced issues with stock sale authorisation on Wednesday, December 18 after the Central Depository Services Limited (CDSL) flagged a technical issue. Brokerage platform Zerodha also issued an advisory regarding the same. Later the platform informed the investors that the issue has been resolved.

“The CDSL TPIN authorisation issue is resolved. You can authorise the sale of your holdings now,” Zerodha said in its post on social media platform X.

In an earlier post, Zerodha said that while it is in touch with CDSL to fix the issue, users can continue trading by selling their holdings without CDSL authorisation.

“Due to an issue at CDSL across brokers, you may face an issue with authorising the sale of your stocks. We are in touch with CDSL to have the issue resolved at the earliest. In the meantime, you can sell your holdings without the need for CDSL authorisation,” Zerodha said in its post.

Many Zerodha users responded to the post by citing that they have not enabled the Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI) feature. A Zerodha user (@drkabirdev) said that he had not enabled the DDPI feature and was unable to authorise his stock sale.

“Unable to sell without CDSL authorisation. I haven’t enabled DPPI and I'm not even able to do now. Kindly elaborate your statement,” the Zerodha user said.

On the other hand trading platform Groww also said in its post on social media platform X that the issue has now been fixed and users can authorise their stock sale authorisations now.

“Due to an issue at CDSL across all brokers, you may have faced an issue with authorising the sale of your stocks. We wish to inform you that the same is fixed and you can place fresh sell orders now," Groww said.

Shares of CDSL traded at Rs 1,938.4, down by 1.61 per cent at 01:14 pm on the NSE on Wednesday, December 18.
