Summary of this article

  • Four banks revise FD rates during this week.

  • Senior citizens can avail of up to 8.30 per cent.

  • Small Finance Banks amongst those offering higher interest.

Four banks have revised their fixed deposit (FD) rates during the week ended September 5, 2026. The highest deposit rate available for senior citizens is 8.30 per cent per annum. These banks include CSB Bank, IDFC First Bank, Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (SFB), and Shivalik SFB. While the market has remained volatile for over a year and the Nifty 50 has declined around 3.40 per cent over one year as of today, the guaranteed interest on FDs provide the much-needed security to the savings for the elderly.

Although FDs cannot beat inflation, their flexibility and guarantee remain critical to ensure the safety and security of funds against market movements.
