Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories emerged as the biggest losers among the Nifty 50 stocks, finishing lower by 2.33 per cent and 2.34 per cent, respectively on the NSE. Shares of ICICI Bank and Asian Paints also finished the session lower by 1.42 per cent and 1.25 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, shares of Tata Consumer Products and Nestle India bucked the trend to close higher by 2.77 per cent and 2.22 per cent, respectively on the NSE.
Nifty FMCG and Nifty Realty Gain
Domestic consumption focused indices, such as Nifty FMCG and the Nifty Realty indices came out as the gainers among the sectoral pack, finishing the session up by 1.17 per cent and 0.80 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, export-focused indices, such as Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma finished lower by 0.11 per cent and 0.33 per cent, respectively. Broader market indices finished the session higher, with the Nifty SmallCap 100 and the Nifty MidCap 100 ending 0.51 per cent and 0.24 per cent, respectively.
Global Markets on September 2
On September 2, Asian indices finished the session on a mixed note, with the Nikkei 225 and KOSPI closing higher by 0.07 per cent and 0.93 per cent, respectively. On the other hand, the Hang Seng and Shanghai Composite finished the session lower by 0.52 per cent and 0.45 per cent, respectively. Wall Street indices witnessed declines on September 1. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite finished the session lower by 1.15 per cent.
Primary Market Action On September 2
Shares of NIS Management and Globtier Infotech listed on the exchanges on September 2. On the other hand, the initial public offerings (IPOs) of Goel Construction Co and Optivalue Tek Consulting opened for subscription. The IPOs or Abril Paper Tech and Snehaa Organics also closed for subscription today.
